Are you sure it's vapor lock? 140-160 1971

When did you last check\clean\change points, plugs, adjust timing?

Could it be overly rich all the time? That might explain the easy cold starts. I don't know if carbs would flood out on mixture adjustment alone, but maybe that's it.

What kind of mileage are you getting? If below 20mpg, it's probably choke, mix or ignition.

If not that, and you are blining the carbs, do you have the phenolic spacers between the carbs and manifold?
