Whats the difference #001 and #003 Bosch distributor? 200 1984

I had a #003 bosch distributor on my 84gl with b23f. I bought a rebuilt on from an online place and they sent me a #001 bosch. I disassembled it and it appears to be the same, Hall switch, correct connector, but i am having trouble with ignition advance. It has taken me several months and a great deal of time and money, but it is either my distributor or my ICU. Can anyone offer me any information that might help me? Thanks, kenneth cardell
