How early 240 can I fit a '92 240 windshield? 200

I did a search on the 240 windshield, and I read that the '92 windshield will fit earlier model 240s. How far back (how old 240) does this work?

I have a '75 164 that uses the same windshield as the early '80s 240. So if the '81 will fit the '75, and the '92 will fit the '81, then shouldn't the '92 also fit the '75? (If A=B, and B=C, then A=C?)

Also, has anyone found a good way to fit the aluminum/chrome trim onto the '92 rubber windshield seal? I'm thinking about using 3M decal tape, since apparently that's how the bottom half of my trim was attached to the windshield after the clips rusted out.
