140 front cross member in a 544? 444-544

My older neighbor (not computorily inclined) is restoring an old 544, a '64 I think. He bought the farm next to his, where the previous owners had left a beater 142. He wants to use the b20 if it's any good, and the rear axel/brakes. He's wondering how much more he could use, he said something about disc brakes all around. I'm a 240 guy butif you could give me some advice to relay to my neighbor that would be cool. Thanks!
