bogging down on big hills 700 1990

just got back from a long trip in the 90 740gle wagon. had some worrysome symptoms twice during the trip.

going up long steep hills. now, we are talking up a couple thousand feet at freeway speeds. i get hesitation, like the car is fuel starved. i have my original fuel pump still, is it going bad? could it be as simple as a new fuel filter? this is the only time it happens.

any ideas?
