940 vents 900 1994

My '94 940 turbo has an issue with the ventalation system. Whenever I push down on the gas, the vents are switched to the floor. The dash knob never physically moves, but it's as if I rotated it to the floor position. So I'll be stopped at a signal, push on the gas, and the air coming through the vents (recirculated air, fresh air, heat, A/C, you name it) flows through the floor vents until I let off the gas again, then it switches back to whatever the dash control says. What's going on here? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kyle
