What is it?.........Possibly a Deformed Heater Control Valve? 120-130

I've finally gotten around to taking apart my non-working heater box, and I've found out several things: I need a blower motor and I need to figure out what this thing is. It looks just like a heater control valve, but it has no tubing attached and there is no obvious place for it to be affixed. Help!
