And the CR is..... 140-160

I happened to have a Volvo 419763 and the Elring equivalent (509.214) in my spares box, both still in the package. I opened them up and put the micrometer on them, both read between 0.035" and 0.036", obviously uncompressed. No such sheet with the 419763, but the Elring actually has the unloaded and loaded thicknesses listed on the data sheet that comes with the gasket... .91 mm and .85 mm respectively. This would convert to 0.0358" and 0.0335", which matches my experience with that gasket.

However comma, WRT the 310 and 768 gaskets...

The parts book for the 1800 S/E/ES (182 & 183) shows the following head gasket part numbers on page 2 of group 2A.

- 419310 for early production B20B
- 419768 for late production B20B and B20E
- 460322 for B20F

If you go to page 20, you will find a whole bunch of different head gasket part numbers (actually, I think I counted 6), listed with thickness for each p/n. At one time it would seem there were 0.8, 1.2, 1.4, 2.0 and 2.5 mm gaskets available. In any case, on that page, both the 419310 and 419768 are shown as 0.8 mm thickness (0.315"). Several problems of course, not the least of which is the age of the document. Also, the parts catalogue doesn't tell us if the thickness is before or after compression, but in any case, 0.8 mm does not match what comes out of the package nowadays, unloaded or otherwise... see first paragraph above.
