Comparing the functional drawings with the schematic - mixed up sometimes. 200 1984

Pictorial of LH shows IAC as item 132, in the schematic that unit is defined as being used in the CIS system. But it has 3 wires, like the LH drawing shows. Wire colors on schematic are w, BN, GN, not the W, BN, GN-R shown in the pictorial.

I suppose that the tech who use(d) the book knew about this stuff and had it all sorted out.

Oh, that diagram in your post is not one I have, seems to be from the New Car Features book for the 1984 240. do you have the WDM book, too?
