240DL No Spark 200 1987

I am a former autobody man and you might say I could pretty much splice two cars together. But I can admit without a blink, I could certainly use help with diagnostics.

My wife's car suddenly stopped running. The first instance, by the time I arrived at the scene, it started right up. A few weeks later it failed again, close to home , and I am now trying to diagnose. Also she says that it seems to have been running a bit sluggish.

I referenced and have gone through all of the steps my Haynes manual has (Volvos 1976-1993 Gasoline models #97020).

Where I am is...

- No spark at plug, nor out of coil.
- Cleaned primary coil wire connections.
- Checked for spark by jumping B & C terminals on the Bosch 3-pole connector from the distributor. Using a calibratred ignition tester, no spark at plug.
- There are 12 volts to terminal 15(+) and only drops a little when cranking.
- There are 12 volts to the blue wire on the ignition module.

This is where the manual concludes, "check the ground strap for continuity or damage." Also adds... "ground circuit on terminal 10 should be less than 0.5 ohms resistance.

To do this test, I have to touch the ohm-meter to the black wire terminal 10 and where else?

Also, am I testing for spark premature? In reading the other queries here it almost seems as if I should maybe first check for fuel, is that the case?

Thanks, any help appreciated,

- Mike

PS, She's now got my truck, ahem, any help really appreciated :)
