how to get ready for emissions inspection 200 1986

I wrestled with Ohio emissions this spring with our 91 745Ti. 180K at the time and running great. 74ppm HC (123ppm limit) 1425ppm NO (878ppm limit) so it failed.

Replaced a leaking intercooler hose and added new plugs and failed again.

Bit the bullet and purchased a new cat for $143 and retested. HC 19ppm and NO 18ppm. Sometimes it really does take a new cat to pass.

I think my old cat might have been getting a little stuffed up. The car is much quicker now. I am also getting more turbo whine but the added performance is worth it.

Good luck in your efforts to pass.

Randy
