1990 740 - Frequent Stall 700 1990

My 740 periodically loses power (and most of the time time ends up stalling) while driving 40+ MPH. Other times, it just loses power for several seconds, and then picks back up. I cannot seem to identify any patterns when it occurs. I have been trying to learn how to fix this thing as I go, and the diagnostics is the hard part. Any ideas of where to start?
