Removing ball-joints without killing myself 140-160 1968

You can also be adventurous and just wrap a cable though the spring and tether it to some sucure part of the car... give that ball joint a whack with the pickle fork from the front of the car and cover your eyes. No... don't do that (but it does work).

Tethering the spring though is not a bad thing to do just to be on the safe side even with a jack under the A-arm.... I always do.

But don't forget about that ball joint pressed into the A-arm on 140/160 series. With a little ingenuity with jacks and the like, it's not too hard to get the old ball joint out. But it can be hard to get teh new one fully pressed in... The weight of the car is not necessarily enough to do it. Be prepared to remove the A-arm, which is not hard to do once your are at that point. And as long as you are removing the A-arm, might as well do lower bushings on it's pivot.
