Poor, poor design... 700 1987

"Don't blame the car for simple lack of maintenance."

This car was well taken care of, and up to par with all the maintenance.
New pump, hoses, thermostat, coolant, earlier this year. Synthetic motor
oil, and Volvo filter. When one is stuck crawling in bumper-to-bumper
traffic, on a 100+ degree day, your engine won't be happy.
This brings up another design flow, on early 740 cars. The crappy
mechanical variable speed cooling fan, combined with cheap plastic
radiator. At least the later models were updated with electrical fans
and metal radiators.

p.s Don't automatically assume I'm not maintaining the car...
Now you are making me assume you work for Volvo dealership....
