invisible high beams 200

I went to turn on the high beams in the '88 240 that is temporarily living in my driveway. These must be so high they are ultraviolet! Things went very dark in front of me except for the high beam indicator in the cluster coming on. Low beam lights come back on when I switch back.

Could this be the relay? Is it that silver one by the 25 am fuse under the hood? Any other ideas?
