I got a used Allison (now Crane) XR-700 unit on eBay for $50, put it on the PV, and have had wonderful service from it for the last 3 years and ~35K miles. Easy to install in your existing distributor, simple to wire up, works great. New units also have an LED on the control box that makes setting them up even easier.
