car shudders while driving 700 1986

I bought a 1986 740 gle for $300. The previous owner wanted to sell it b/se he drove the car after it had been sitting and it had a violent shudder, so much so that he was afraid to drive it. I thought it might be a center bearing, or transmission mount. After letting it sit in my driveway for 2 months I went out to move it and it would not go out of gear, eventually I did get it out of gear, but it made me wonder if the clutch wasn't disengaging completely would this cause the shuddering while driving? Has anyone experienced this? Did not see anything like this in FAQ and don't have a lot of experience with manual transmissions. Any input would be very helpful. Thank you.
