Volvo AC kit from FCP groton 200 1984

Hello everyone,

I recently got the Volvo A/C kit from FCP Groton, and called a local A/C shop about installing it. I told them about the kit on the phone and the guy seemed confused about what it came with and why it came with all of the things it did (mainly the... Im bad with A/C parts names cause I dont do A/C, the thing that looks like a shoe box sized radiator). I have the York compressor (or it looks like a york to me) and the guy said it would be much better to just use R12 in it, but it might be expensive if it hasnt run in years. Does the guy know what hes talkign about, or has anyone used the volvo kit from FCP Groton? Im wondering if I should just return it and write my A/C off as dead. Any info woudl be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
