Cross threaded transmission cooler line at radiator, throws fluid everywhere, how to fix? 700 1990

I made the mistake of crossthreading the connection at the radiator for the lower transmission line. The reason was the line is stiff and was difficult to align and to realize it was crossthreaded. I'm going to back it off and see if I can re-crossthread to the correct threading. I fear I've crossthreaded too much of it.

Is it possible to replace the threaded connector with one from my '86 740 with manual transmission since the connector is unused? Can I try to turn at the radiator? Is it designed to turn?

Thanks,
Nathan
