Old fuel 200

The '80 is currently running poorly. I'm attributing this to old fuel. I tried to drive it yesterday for the first time in months and it was drivable but it sputtered as the revs increased and was reluctant to go uphill. Giving it more throttle just bogged it down. So after about 30 seconds of that I turned around and went back home. My records indicate the last time I put fuel in the tank was Dec 30, 3004. I'm a bad Volvo owner for letting this happen. I have my excuses but that's all they are...excuses.
This morning I drove it, very slowly, to the gas station and filled it with 91 octane. I normally use 87. It took 9.8 gal. I have only driven another 10 miles at this point and I suppose it will run crappy for a while.

What else should I do and when can I expect to see an improvement?
