ODOMETER INOP; SPEEDO OK 86 240 WAGON 200

The subjuect says it all, the odometer / trip odometer suddently stopped working at 241,000 +. The Speedometer works fine.I reset the trip back to 0 and that's when I found out about the problem. It reset oK, but doesn't move. I suspect that the problem has been there a while, but then my daughter was driving the car for some time and she might not notice such things. Before I pull the instrument cluster apart, any words of advice? Is this a know failure and easy fix, or strictly something for the certified speedo repair shop?
