clicking in engine on acceleration 1800 1969

Yeah, I don't think anyone would describe a rod knock as 'clicking'. That sounds like someone pounding on a solid pices of the engine block with a ball peen hammer. Deep, and serious sounding.

My 1800E is currently lightly suffering from a common D-jet ailment - a ceacked exhaust manifold. It doesn't really make much noise at idle, but makes a sharp little chuff sound when the gas is pressed, could almost be described as a click.

Are you familiar with what a pinging engine sounds like? Volvo engine often like to be tuned right on the edge of pinging, and you'll occasionally get a little pinging whent he gas is pressed down.
