A couple 240DL issues - squeaky front-end 200 1986

Hi there! I've been on and off the board since I got "Bessie", my '86 240DL, and I have a few questions for you:

1) I have a squeaky front-end. She squeaks when I turn the wheel left or right, quite loudly. The pitch of the squeak seems to be related to engine speed, getting higher in pitch and lower in intensity as speed increases. I can feel the squeaking through the steering wheel.

edit: I should re-characterize the "squeak" as more of a "groan"... almost like a pissed-off ogre. If that makes sense.

I have replaced the power steering belt and checked for tightness, it seems to be nice and snug.

Opinions?

I will start other threads regarding other problems. Thanks!
