So the real problem turned out to be ignition...but it's an easy fix 200

I complained the other day about the crappy performance of my '80 and thought it was due to old fuel. A couple of you said look elsewhere. Then I found that I had got the cam out of time when I changed the belt. So I fixed that and the car ran better but still felt like it was misfiring. I went back to have another look at the cam/crank/intermediate shaft sync. I started to pull the plugs to make it easier and when I removed #1 the problem was obvious.

The insulator is cracked around 2/3 of the circumference and is about 1mm at the widest spot. The electrode is at a slight angle off of the axis. Possibly it's arcing to the base of the plug?
I guess I dropped it before reinstalling on Saturday. I don't recall doing it but I don't know what else could cause this condition. I just wish I had noticed it the other day.
Anyway, problem solved.
