Does ABS lifght come on when you turn the ignition on and start the engine? 900

While working on the instrument cluster in my '93 945, I became aware that the ABS warning light did not come on when I started the engine. The other warning lights such as the charging and oil pressure come on then and then go off when the engine starts. I can'r remember if the ABS light does the same.

Should that ABS warning light come on then go off after the ABS does its self check? If so, what would prevent this from happening? (I did replace the bulb but that wasn't the problem.)
