help with cutting out / stalling problem 89 245 200 1989

Hey guys, looking for some help I have been having on my old 89 245. The car will crank just fine hot or cold but soon thereafter just simply shuts down. It always recranks. Sometimes runs for 10-15 miles, sometime 10-15 feet. I have replaced the fuel pump relay, no improvment. The car has 225k miles and I'm not sure what all has ever been replaced other than what I have done (timing belt, seals, h20 pump, relay, etc.) It seems kinda random until lately when it's repeating the problem to the point I can't really drive it. Obviously it's a sudden loss of spark or fuel. Occasionally it will sputter for a second before shutting down but most of the time it's a straight cut off. When the car is running (for those 10 miles or so when it acts right - it runs beatifully like nothing is wrong and then - WHAM!)

Am I going down the right road by trying a crank position sensor? Ignition control module? Anyone have any thoughts? I really don't want to throw parts or $ at it considering it's probably only of any value to me. (cause I like him - Puddle is his nickname - coined before his front seals!)

Thanks for any help in advance.
