Driver's door handle broken - repair questions 200 1988

Hello,

The driver's side outside door handle has broken on the 1988 245. It just flops around. I've the inside of the door taken apart down to the moisture barrier (someone's been in there before) and I've got the replacement handle ready to go(used @ $10). I see two phillips head screws holding the broken door handle in place. Looks like I need to undo those to release the handle from the linkage.

Can I get some tips on how get the old door handle out, specifically, will parts of the handle linkage go everywhere once the handle is loose? And what about that spring that's in there, should I disconnect that somehow before starting?

I found this in the archives, but the pics are dead:

Finally, I forgot to label the speaker wire. I've got a white wire and white wire with a yellow stripe (they look original). Which one's the positive lead?

Thanks in advance.
