Red Tail lamps getting hazy - Remedys ? 200

The red tail lamps on my 240 are getting cloudy and hazy. For some reason the amber and clear lenses are fine. If I wipe them down with water or with thinner they look good for a few seconds. Is There a product or home remedy anyone knows of that will revive them? Can they be polished with some sort of wax? Regular wax won't work.
