960 missfiring 900

I have a 93 960 with 114,000 miles on it. For the past six months it has had an intermittent missfiring at mid rpms. It can go for days and run like a top and then it sputters and jerks in mid rpms.

Has anyone had any experince with this, on mechanic told me it would be the oxygen sensor.
