cold air intake( leave it or replace with stock) 200 1992

While I am waiting to save the money for a complete suspension overhaul, I am tinkering with the intake system. The previous owner of the brick, installed a makeshift cold air intake. Everything seems to work fine, but the quality is pretty shabby. It looks like he just bought a "hi" flow cone filter, a little aluminum duct and some clamps. The thing is held in with tie wraps underneath the battery tray, but it is stable and does not wiggle or wobble. The original intake system was in the boot and I have cleaned it up, all I need is the flex hose that comes off the exhaust and connects to the air box(do I really need this hose). My question to you guys is , do I leave it alone or replace with the original? My gas mileage is pretty good, and I wonder if it will be affected negatively. Thanks alot.

Oh yeah, it sure is great to be back under the hood of a Volvo again.
