Hi All Bricksters!
This is my first post, so I'll try to get as much information here and not have to repost at a later date.
I own a 1989 Volvo 240 DL Wagon, with 261K + miles on her.
I'm about to rebuild both the front and rear suspensions because of serious sag in the rear due to worn out bushings, springs, and shocks. I also have a very noticeable sag in my front end on the drivers side which is affecting my ability to aim my headlights correctly.
I plan to replace all the rear bushing with SuperPro Poly bushings. The rear springs are going to be replaced with IPD overload springs and the shocks are going to be the Bilstien touring class of shocks.
In the front I plan to replace again all of the bushings except for the sway bar bushings. The replacements will also be SuperPro Poly bushings. The struts will be the Bilstien touring class as well.
With all that said, I was also going to replace the front coil springs in the front in an attempt to eleviate the sag that I am experiencing on the drivers front end. However, IPD is selling their coil springs for $94 a single spring. This really is a little steep and I'm not willing to make this investment if this isn't necessary. Also, FCP Groton sells a "Scan Tech" coil spring for $40 per spring.
The bottom line here is as follows:
1. What could be causing this sag that I am experiencing in my drivers side front end? Struts? Bushings? Coil Springs? Some of them, one of them, all of them? Any help and or advice here would be greatly appreciated in diagnosing this sag issue. Also, does someone have the specs that say how high the front end is supposed to sit off the wheel center location?
2. If it is determined that yes, the coil springs need to be replaced, does anyone have any experience with the "Scan Tech" springs? Also, would anyone have another place that I could go to get replacement front coil springs that are brand new. I do not want to do this again, so the JY is out of the question.
Well I think that is all the information at the moment.
Any and all advise would be greatly appreciated as I plan to keep her a very long time. I love not having a car payment and this is one way to assure that!
Thanks,
Matt
