constant' EEE' code 200 1991

recently purchased 91 245. Radio worked untill i changed batteries. Radio then showed codE. A few days later I found a written 4 digit number written in the front of the owners manual. When I turned the radio on to enter this number per manuals instruction the radio showed EEE. Tried disconnecting the battery, no luck changing the EEE showing on the radio. So, not sure what to do now. Also, when I turn the radio on and up to its highest volume level I hear a station playing softly. I cannot change the station at all. Anyone with experience involving this problem? If so your help is appreciated.
Thanks, Steve
