1985 240 Injector Question 200 1985

I had a harness failure on my DL wagon. While trying to diagnose why it wouldn't start I jumpered 12 volts DC to the injector solenoids. I later read in an older volvo manual that excess injector control voltage would destroy the injector.

I'm hoping that this is not the case in my 1985 volvo. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
