M46 & M47 Trannys - Differences Please/Clarification Please ..... 200

Hello All. There have been posts from a Dauggernaut about his M47 tranny. He refers to it as a 5 speed with Overdrive. Is This So. I Have what I believe is called the M46 Tranny On my '86 240 Sedan. It is 4 speeds and then Overdrive Giving me total of 5 speeds. If Dauggernaut is correct then does M47 have 5 sppeds and then overdrive thus giving 6 speeds ?? I Thought M47 was a 5 speed with no overdrive. Can someone please clarify this matter. Also although I am quite happy with my tranny(which by the way I use REdline MTL in)is the M47 considered better then an M46 Tranny ?? What years did each one run until ?? Thanks all.
