Oil Presure WOW

Indicator light kept coming on after 3 or 4 miles
Checked for frayed or short none found
Replaced Oil presure sensor -- same problem
Hooked up presure gage and upon starting had 27 psi
Drove 3 or 4 miles presure droped to 0
Stoped car and immiadetly restarted and presure jumped up to 27 again
As long as I stop the car and restart after it drops to 0 it comes right back up.
Mechanic can not figure out and does no think it is oil pump
Any ideas greatly appreicated
