1990 244 rear swing arm problem / busted arrgh! 200

Okay folks, looks like the previous owner of this car cut a corner during shock replacement and only put the lower shock bolt through the outside of the swing arm. Now the swing arm metal has fatigued and snapped a 1 inch by 2 inch chunk of metal out of the swing arm where the lower shock bolt goes.

Since I don't like the idea of welding the swingarm back together due to additional fatigue fractures that may be present, is the only option to replace the swingarm?

Has anyone else run into this problem... if so, how did you go about resolving it? I also have access to a 90 245 parts car... does anyone know if the 244 and 245 swing arms are interchangeable? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
jorrell
