We're aligned. I consider the signal from the ecu to the power stage to be a primary signal -- at least in the general sense (yes, I know it's not the primary winding, strictly speaking... but the days of modern electronics have broadened our perspective).

The ecu doesn't know it's not getting through to the coil.

Sorta like me talking to my wife...... No spark, no fuel, no ignition, no power, no get through, no go.......
