I am not really a Michelin fan for regular tires based on my experience with them and better experience with less expensive brands. However, I have to praise the Michelin Alpins I've been using for the last 6 winters on my '97 960 Wagon. They work well and drive well. Not perfect on ice and plain wet, but really good overall. They are generally quite but do have a little "jet-engine" whine on wet roads. I have not kept track of the miles, but there are almost no signs of wear. At this point the tread will far outlast the rubber - which I assume will harden with age.
