AC/Heater Problems 700 1988

1988 760 Turbo

Hot over here in Louisiana, USA. Air Conditioning/Heater quit working. Now only light surrounding the AC button is blink, blink, blinking at us as we roast in 90+ degree, high humidity weather with no end in sight. Fuse is not blown, compressor belt not loose, just stopped blowing any air. Any suggestions out there? Also, at the same time, now the car doesn't want to accelerate above 40 mph, and going up hill (very small ones at that) forget it. Averaging about 15 to 20 mph there.

Please offer any help. This is our only vehicle and prospects for a good used car is slim to none. (New vehicle impossible.)
