86 engine into 89 700

I think you can leave the tranny bolted to the 86 engine and drop it in. Then you will need to swap the distributor. Just remove the crank sensor, or tie up the wire or something.

Other difference, maybe output shaft of transmission. I've had them swapped before. Also, there are various sensors on the block. Just will have to take a look unless someone else knows for sure.
