Tach or? 700 1986

The tach is driven by a pulse train from the power stage which, in effect, provides a varying frequency related to engine speed which is converted to a varying voltage by the tach circuit i.e. the tach is a voltmeter. IMO the odd glich from the tach can be ignored - mine does it sometimes. It might indicate a failing power stage if the jumps are frequent or it might be tach circuit instability. If the engine runs normally, ignore it. Regards.
