Knock sensor + timing question 700 1989

OK - Will - you bring up another question.

The techs comments this morning (below) got me to thinking about piston slap. Can piston slap affect a knock sensor?

Quote:
He was describing how a knock sensor can be led astray by noises in the motor. He said that he has had to remove some from motors completely (not Volvos) wrap them in form rubber and tape - and isolate it from the motor all-together. He said that the timing then had to be carefully set to make sure it would run right. As I said - these were not Volvos he did this to.

Thanks
Andy
