Loose steering after tie rod end replacement. (Alignment?)

On my own car I'll chance setting the alignment by tape measure & straight-edge, but I would expect a mechanic to always suggest an alignment after replacing front-end parts. In my experience, the looseness you're feeling is likely a lack of toe-in. Make sure everything else is tight then get it aligned.
