engine no start 700 1991

If the injectors are sraying and you smell gas, it sounds as though the fuel system is working for the most part. It could, however, have a bad fuel pressure regulator that is causing too much fuel flow. If that were the case, it may start when it's cold but not want to run very long before it loads up and dies (probably accompanied with a lot of black smoke from the tail pipe). Pull the vacuum line off of the fuel pressure regulator and if any gas comes out of the inside then the regulator is shot. But even if no gas appears, the regulator MAY be bad anyway. A fuel pressure check at the fuel injector rail is the real regulator test.

On the ignition side of the house, you might want to at least pop the distributor cap off and make sure it's clean and dry inside and that the 5 contacts on the cap and the 2 on the rotor aren't all corroded. (Scrape them a little.) If you have a Rex-Regina car, you might want to pull the coil/power unit apart (torx screws) and clean the internal contacts and all mating surfaces including the surface mating to the car's chassis.

Good luck.
