I need a little help. I have a 1987 740 GLE non-turbo that keeps stalling due to the engine flooding. I’ve found that if I disconnect the fuel injectors start the engine and burn the fuel, hook the injectors back up and start it the car runs fine for a little while and then stalls again. The car has two different symptoms when it does this, either it starts bucking right before it stalls or it just quits. Either way the tachometer will wind down with the engine instead of just dropping to 0. I’ve had it to a mechanic but he has been unable to duplicate the problem and says he can find nothing wrong with the car. It does this at lower speeds and highway speeds. The problem has been getting progressively worse. If anyone has any suggestions I would be appreciative.
