"Yet to change gas filter."

Doesn't sound like a filter problem (which I've never experienced) if the symptoms and your description point to excessive fuel.

Try pulling the vacuum hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator and check for the presence of fuel. Leaky FPR diaphragm will let fuel get sucked right into the intake manifold.
