Among others, Swedish Treasures has them (http://www.swedishtreasures.com) although they are dear.

I've seen then used on ebay.

A 12v switch should work, but the extra current will most likely shorten its life. You could check its resistance once and a while to check its function, internal burning would raise resistance.
