Multimeter 200 1985

Get yourself a multimeter. Set it to voltage and check the voltage at the battery posts with the engine running. If it is around 14v then the system's charging. If 12v or less then it isn't.

If charging, then look at possibility of bad battery or high current drain overnight (eg door locks).

If not charging, check thin red exciter wire at alternator as well as short thicker ground wire at alternator for proper connections. (Alt light would not work if either are disconnected.)
