I believe you'd have to do some extensive modification to the tunnel so it would accomodate the automatic. My '66 was once an automatic and it's tunnel is much wider than that of a car with an M40. I would think it would be much easier to look for an Amazon that's already an automatic- they seem to pop up quite a lot.
