Wiring problems-engine bay 700

volvosfive:

Volvo sells every part you can think of but they are expensive, and therse wiring harnesses are expensive even by vVolvo dealership standards. You might try fcpgroton.com or rprusa.com first.

A little background on crumbling wire insulation. The early 240s were notorious for crumbling engine wire harnesses. Almost all of them had to be replaced or repaired at great tedious effort. These archives are full of stories about them. Volvo finally got a grip on the problem and used a different non crumbling insulation by the 1988 model. So, I am surprised to hear your '94 has the same problem and in more places than just the engine, (the 240's harness problems were limited largely to the engine harness),it leads me to ask if the car has ever been subjected corrosive fluids, or submerged in a flood? I would thoroughly check the rest of the car out before proceeding with any part purchases.
